CROSS CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN INDONESIA AND AUSTRALIA

We know that Australia is a continent that once a nation. With a position close to Indonesia, it is not surprising that people from Australia go to Indonesia and vice versa. Many institutions are good enough relationship with that country. Such programs have been implemented in Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) with opening the program to learn Indonesian language for foreigners who are interested. This time, the opportunity to learn can be felt by those Australians who had the opportunity to learn in the SWCU, Salatiga.
Opportunity is not wasted by our faculty that is Study Program Of Elementary School Teacher Education in cross cultural understanding between Australia and Indonesia. Given the opportunity to exchange ideas about the different cultures between Australia and Indonesia, Kirrily as a citizens form Australia presented information about Australia. As citizens in generally, when she going to another country, Kirrily feel a lot of different things with her country. In the discussion at that time, many information that we didn’t know and never thought, we can get when discussing with Kirrily. Actually,  Australia have a lot of things that we don’t know. Australia  don’t have anything like a typical traditional clothing, foods, dances, etc.. In generally countries has its own characteristics, Australia doesn’t have it. This is caused because of race or ethnic origin living in Australia who are mostly migrants from outside the continent.
Although that case, Australia is a prosperous country, as expressed by Kirrily that students can attend school without paying anything, except the cost just to buy stationery only. But of course, to study in that the school is not easy and should follow a few tests. Schools must provide the best possible education to the students, in Australia in addition to learning about the language they commonly use (English) there are also some schools that include Indonesian language lessons learned.
Through direct experience met with Kirrily an Australian citizen, I and my friends who follow these activities feel a lot of information around the country who turned out to have different cultures with Indonesia, but it also helps us in understanding learning English. It is true that Australian citizens to communicate in English, but in addition they also use Japanese and Spanish to communication.
Kirrily information doesn’t describe in detail all about Australia, but some information has been presented by Kirrily can give our more knowledge about Australia.:)
